TD Tech launches 2G TD-SCDMA base station products and the TPlan network planning tool

-November 30, 2006, CNII

One year after TD Tech put forth the 1G TD-SCDMA base station NodeB450 in October 2005, it recently announced the launch of the 2G TD-SCDMA base station NodeB610 which is already applied in the large-scale testing of TD network with satisfactory performance. Moreover, TD Tech put forth Tplan, the TD-SCDMA network planning tool.

TD Tech firmly believes that the primary factor for TD networking to be recognized by users in the early stage is the stability of the system and quality of the network service. Relying on its robust R&D ability and down to earth and prudent attitude, TD Tech keeps improving the performance of its products and putting forth new models, so as to offer the most stable and best-quality products to customers. Compared with LCR1.0, LCR2.1 has made substantial improvement in function and performance.

The main new functions added to LCR2.1 include N-frequency and roaming/handoff between TD and GSM network the latter enabling TD operators to offer TD users full coverage of basic mobile business by using GSM network resources and greatly reducing repeated investment in network construction. As for performance, LCR2.1 is not only further upgraded in stability, but also remarkably improved in system integration, volume and capacity. It is 1/4 smaller than the 1G products and increases the number of supportable frequency from nine to twelve while decreasing the number of system single boards to three. Large-capacity, high-integration and small-sized base station products make the system easier to install and maintain, cutting down on the network construction and maintenance cost. Before long, TD Tech will also put forward 2G base station products (intensified) which can support intermediate frequency remote(系统中频拉远功能 ). The realization of this function will reduce the number of smart antenna cables by a large margin, largely decreasing the project complexity, and curtail the time and cost for installation.

As the result of the cooperation between TD Tech and FORSK, Tplan integrates the expertise of both companies in network planning and TD technology respectively. As the top supplier of radio network planning software on the global stage, FORSK has 19 years of experience in network planning. Its network planning tool, Atoll, is in wide use across the global communications market and occupies a leading position in the European market. TD Tech is a pioneer and leader in the field of TD R&D. Special technologies like smart antenna adopted in the TD standard are demanding in accuracy of network models, which adds up to the difficulty of TD network planning. TPlan, very powerful in function, as well as flexible and accurate, is able to offer the optimal comprehensive solutions for TD network construction.

During the ITU Telecom World from December 4 to 8 in Hong Kong, TD Tech will exhibit NodeB450, NodeB610 and RNC810 at the same time, as well as the intermediate frequency remote(中频拉远 ) outdoor products. Additionally, TD Tech will work with terminal companies at the exhibition to demonstrate roaming/handoff between TD and GSM, HSDPA-enabled TV rebroadcast on mobile phone and video on demand, IMS-enabled interactive games, videophone, MMS, and basic voice business of TD-SCDMA.

Founded in March 2005, TD Tech it has continued its in-dept development in product R&D to strengthen management and capability in the past two years. Moreover, to handle the upcoming market competition, it has started a series of measures with a view to reinforce its ability in marketing and services, quicken its market response time, and improve its quality management system. By now the number of employees at TD Tech has increased from 500 early this year to more than 700, with sales, marketing and service staff taking up the largest proportion. Furthermore, to equip TD Tech with plenty of funds when introducing its products to the market, Siemens and Huawei re-funded TD Tech not long ago to ensure financial guarantee for TD Tech’s successful entry into the market next year.
