Technology Introduction
The TD-SCDMA standard was proposed by the China Wireless
Telecommunication Standard group (CWTS) to ITU in 1998.
At the same time the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB), and Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) proposed their proposals, ETSI/ARIB wideband CDMA (WCDMA) and cdma2000 Standards. The TD-SCDMA proposal was approved by ITU as one of the candidate standards for 3G mobile communications in May 2000 and accepted by 3GPP in March 2001. The TD-SCDMA standard makes use of TDD synchronous CDMA technology and offers several operational advantages.
The TD-SCDMA standard has received the strongly support by the Chinese government and will surely play a critical role in mobile communications development in China as well as in the world. The most important thing is that the success of TD-SCDMA will not only benefit the relative national industries, but also lead the evolution for the 3G and 3G-beyond technologies in China or even worldwide.
Recently, TD-SCDMA industry has achieved fast development. Standardization is gradually mature and its industry chain has preliminarily come into being including radio, core, terminal chip, commercial phone and testing instrument etc. The cooperation based on division of labor among domestic and foreign vendors has strongly accelerated TD-SCDMA product commercialization. TDSCDMA large-scale commercial usage is coming soon.
TD-SCDMA adopts plentiful state-of-art wireless technologies, such as TDD (Time Division Duplex), DCA (Dynamical channel Allocation), SA ( Smart Antenna), JD (Joint Detection) and ULSC (Uplink Synchronization). With these remarkable features, TD-SCDMA owns the inherent gift that no Cell Breathing Effect, which will benefit the system for higher network capacity and better performance.
